Damien Woody Makes Groundbreaking Statement About Belichcik, Patriots 2019 Draft

The New England Patriots got themselves a bunch of awesome players in the 2019 NFL Draft, and Damien Woody is really happy about it.

New England entered the draft with 12 picks, and had six in the first three rounds. According to Woody, head coach Bill Belichick made the most of his picks. Woody played five seasons with the Patriots, and he is still proud of his former teammates. Yes, he said that the Patriots had the best draft when compared to other NFL teams.

“I really love what the Patriots did. Had a plethora of picks, and they picked players from all over different positions, starting off with N’Keal Harry, wide receiver,” Woody said. “This is the first wide receiver in the first round under the Bill Belichick era. He has never done this before. But this is a guy who’s a big receiver, a guy who can high-point the ball. The Patriots really haven’t had a guy like this since Randy Moss. He’s not Randy Moss as far as speed, but he is as far as height and run-after-catch abilities.

“They need a guy outside the numbers, and they obviously got Chase Winovich, a guy who was uberproductive at Michigan. He was actually more productive than the guy who got drafted much higher than him — Rashan Gary, who went to the Green Bay Packers at No. 12. So he’s like the perfect Patriots pick in the third round.”

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. also loves the way New England handled the draft.

“Wideout N’Keal Harry (No. 32) has the best hands in this class. He will be a weapon in the red zone. Outside linebacker Chase Winovich (No. 77) is a versatile edge player and a great fit for Belichick’s multischeme defense. Yodny Cajuste (No. 101) is raw — he played just one year of high school football — but has some upside as a potential down-the-road starter at offensive tackle.

“There are a lot of needs filled here, and if Harry, (JoeJuan) Williams and Winovich can get on the field early, I feel good about this being one of the draft’s best classes from top to bottom.”
