First Look of LeBron James Wearing The 8 & 24 Kobe Bryant Jersey

The Los Angeles Lakers will be wearing their “Black Mamba” City Edition jersey on Monday for Game 4 of the series against the Portland Trail Blazers. Kobe Bryant designed the jersey and it was first unveiled in the 2017-18 season. The Black Mamba was the first to design a jersey for the team. The jersey has featured shadowbox numbers and a snakeskin-like print. It has one star for each of the Lakers’ 16 championship wins. Well, LeBron James arrived for the game wearing his Kobe jersey.

The shorts have “LA 24” on the belt buckle area. Kobe’s Nos. 8 and 24 are embedded under the flap of each leg. LA won the jerseys for eight games that season. This is Kyle Kuzma’s favorite jersey. Lakers head coach Luke Walton likes the look, too.

Initial reports suggested that the Lakers planned to bring back the Black Mamba alternate uniform if they advanced in the NBA playoffs. They changed the plan, and LA will wear the uniforms Monday. The NBA will honor the Kobe Bryant Day.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel didn’t provide any details on their future plans. “We don’t have anything to announce regarding that,” Vogel said. “Kobe’s birthday is coming up, Kobe Day is coming up next week. We intend to honor him but we don’t have anything to announce further than that.”

Vogel said the same following Sunday’s practice. “This day and tomorrow, where we’re going to wear the uniforms, brings back a lot of the emotions of what happened,” he said. “We’re all still really sad about his loss, and Gigi’s loss.”
