LeBron James Not Pushing For Rumored Lakers Coaching Prospect Per Insider

LeBron James has been in the NBA for over two decades. He knows the game and many believe that he is actually playing a major role in front office decisions. Well, Shams Charania from The Athletic reported that LeBron doesn’t have a word in the Lakers active search for the best coaching prospect. The Los Angeles Lakers lost the series to Denver and firing Darvin Ham had to go.

“I’m told LeBron James is not involved in the Lakers head coaching search,” Charania said on the May 20 episode of “Run it Back” on FanDuel TV.

LeBron was expected to push for JJ Redick to become the next Lakers head coach. They host a podcast together and many claimed that Redick is a frontrunner for the coaching gig. He talked about his desire to coach an NBA team for quite some time. Redick spent 16 seasons in the NBA and his knowledge of the game could definitely help any NBA team.

“LeBron James has made it clear that this is the organization’s decision,” Charania added. “He’s had no conversions with the Lakers about JJ Redick, his podcast partner. He’s had no conversations with JJ about that position as well. I did speak to Rich Paul [James’ agent] this morning, and he said LeBron and JJ do a podcast together, that does not mean LeBron wants JJ Redick as his head coach.”

Other analysts give a take on LeBron and his involvement in the coaching situation in the Lakers front office

There are multiple theories regarding LeBron’s potential involvement. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith also brought up the Redick scenario. LeBron may have a favorite for the position, but he is definitely not messing with the head coach search.

“LeBron James is trying to get the Los Angeles Lakers to draft Bronny James with a second-round pick. He’d also like for JJ Redick to be his next head coach. I’m just telling you what I heard,” Smith said on “The Stephen A Smith Show” on May 14.
