Lakers’ Rob Pelinka Shares JJ Redick Plan for Bronny James

The Los Angeles Lakers made a big splash with their decision to select LeBron James’ oldest son in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Bronny and LeBron will get to play together and it looks like Rob Pelinka and other members of the Lakers franchise trust the father-son duo. The Lakers general manager had great words for Bronny and so does newly-hired head coach JJ Redick.

“Coach Redick is already excited about putting a development plan around him to increase his basketball skills and turn them into the player that we think can impact and help this franchise,” Pelinka told reporters after the 2024 NBA Draft on June 27.

Redick, Pelinka have great expectations from Bronny

Redick has no experience as a head coach, but sure knows how to bond with NBA players. He played in the league for 15 seasons and knows the game well. He can recognize a great player whenever he sees one and Bronny is on his radar. Pelinka and Jeanie Buss had to make major changes in the offseason. Getting Bronny and Dalton Knecht seemed like a good option for the team.

“We really want to take kind of an innovative and new look at how players are developed. And that archetype will be wrapped around Bronny, and the other players that we get on to ways as we bring guys in and the young players we already have on our roster,” Pelinka said. “So I just think it’s a perfect time as coach builds out his player development staff to really pour into the guys that we have here. And I think you guys will see that played out in real time once we get that staff hired.”

LeBron has yet to decide on his player option and his decision will be a game-changer. Will he stay on the team? NBA analysts believe he will sign a three-year deal worth over $160 million.
