Ex-Patriot Has Hilarious Take On Kyle Shanahan Surprising Job Offer To Bill Belichick

Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick decided to part ways after two decades. The legendary head coach left the New England Patriots after helping them win six titles. Belichick got off to a new start and talked to several teams around the NFL. Kyle Shanahan wanted legendary Belichick on his staff, but the former Patriots head coach turned down the offer. We are not really sure that Belichick was actually trying to land a job as a NFL coach.

Former Patriots veteran Jason McCourty talked about the offer Belichick received. According to him, the Belichick-Shanahan duo would never work. They both have great experience and incredible skills, but let’s just say they are not a match made in heaven.

“On a day-to-day basis, calling the shots and doing all of those things … I don’t know quite how that would work,” McCourty said on “The Jim Rome Show” podcast on Thursday. “For the married people out there, you know, you have your wife, and your wife wants her household a certain type of way.

“For me, single mom growing up, I was a mamma’s boy. I could not imagine my wife and my mom in one household and both of them trying to call the shots. Who’s supposed to bend down to other and say, ‘Alright, your way or the highway.’ Because I know, for me, growing up, that was my mom saying, ‘Hey, if you’re going to be in this house, you’re going to live by my rules.’ Now, being married, my wife dictates all the rules, and I got to live by that too. I don’t know if you can bring those two forces together and make it work.”

Belichick didn’t want to join Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers

Shanahan made an offer, but Belichick’s response was loud and clear.

“What I loved about it is that he politely declined in just such a Belichick way,” McCourty said. “Like, ‘Hey, thanks, but no thanks.’”

Belichick has been making a lot of headlines lately and most of the attention he has received was due to his new romance with Jordon Hudson. Belichick won’t be coaching in the NFL in 2024, but he will definitely share his knowledge during his media presence.
