Lakers, LeBron James Shut Down Free Agency Rumors With $104 Million Contract

LeBron James opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. The team selected his oldest son, Bronny, but LeBron didn’t sign a new deal right away. The four-time NBA champion had to sign a deal ahead of Team USA training camp and that’s exactly what happened. LeBron is not leaving the Lakers as both sides have just agreed to a two-year deal worth $104 million.

Shams Charania was among the first to report the signing. LeBron’s deal with the Lakers also has a player option.

LeBron loves the game and he doesn’t even think of leaving the basketball court in the near future. Moreover, we have a few good reasons to believe that he will actually retire as a Laker.

LeBon to get the best of his new contract with the Lakers

King James has been around for a while and he is now the second player to do 22 NBA seasons. LeBron hit pretty much every milestone and he is on a good way to add a few more accolades to his portfolio. He will play two more seasons in the NBA, and hopefully, he will win a title with the Lakers.

The Lakers have yet to add a third player behind LeBron and Anthony Davis, but they did hire a new head coach. JJ Redick will coach the Lakers in the upcoming season and his relationship with LeBron should make things easier for pretty much everyone.

When it comes to LeBron’s new deal, let’s just say we saw it coming. Jeanie Buss and Magic Johnson did their best to sign LeBron in 2018. Why would they let him go right now? In his six seasons with the Lakers, LeBron averaged 27.0 points, 8.0 assists, and 7.9 rebounds per game. His elite performance is of utmost importance for the Lakers and their playoff hopes. Let’s see what happens in the new season. LeBron is teaming up with his son and fans wouldn’t miss this one for anything in the world.
