Patriots Rookie Expected To Be ‘Faster’ Jakobi Meyers And Top 1,000 Yards

The New England Patriots decided to part ways with Jakobi Meyers and it looks like they have found a fitting replacement. According to NFL analysts, the Patriots may replace experienced Meyers with rookie Ja’Lynn Polk. Dakota Randall from Pro Football Network was the first to discuss this scenario. According to Randal, Polk is “a faster, more explosive” version of the former Patriots player.

Randal believes that Polk “might never develop into a No. 1 target. His ceiling might be that of a faster, more explosive Jakobi Meyers, who’s a very good player.”

Polk is turning heads this offseason and his performance on the practice field didn’t go unnoticed. Randall had great words for his performance and everything he has accomplished so far.

“He was sure-handed, ran great routes, and just carried himself like a pro,” Randall added. “He also was taller and faster in person than as advertised.”

The Patriots rookie to embrace a starting role like Meyers

The Patriots don’t have much depth on the roster which makes Polk’s situation quite easy. He won’t have to jump into any sort of a competition. Randall added that it is “easy to envision Polk earning a big role right away, partly because the Patriots might not have other viable options beyond DeMario Douglas. If Polk stays healthy, he could be a target hog and put up impressive numbers as a rookie.”

Former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick appreciated versatile and consistent players and so does Jerod Mayo. The new Patriots head coach will definitely get the best of Polk’s versatility.

Alex Van Pelt will be leading the offensive side of the ball in the 2024 NFL season. Polk is expected to fit in Van Pelt’s offense as a key player. The Patriots rookie showed great efficiency in catching 20-plus-yard passes in 2023.
