Bailey Zappe Honest Take On Lack Of Reps With Patriots

The New England Patriots packed their quarterback unit, but they don’t really have a star signal-caller to lead the way for other players. Drake Maye joined the team as the 3rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He doesn’t have any NFL experience, meaning head coach Jerod Mayo will probably pick a veteran QB early in the regular season. Jacoby Brissett is on the Patriots roster right now and so is Bailey Zappe. The latter doesn’t see much playing time in training camp and he could be on his way out of the organization. Zappe didn’t see any reps during the Patriots’ practice on Friday.

It’s safe to say that Zappe is not too happy with his current situation in New England. The talented player is fourth on the depth chart. Yes, even rookie quarterback Joe Milton III is listed ahead of him.

Patriots threw Zappe in a quarterback competition

Zappe has enough talent and an excellent skill set to make a difference on the football team. He loves the game and would definitely love to see more action in the regular season.

“Mayo is preaching quality over quantity, so that’s what my mindset has been through this training camp,” the quarterback explained. “I’m going to do whatever I can to help this team win. It is hard, you look back and I started eight games last year, and that’s on my resume. Obviously I want to be here and I want to play here and I want to do everything I can to help this organization. I am trying to be the best teammate I can be.”

Brissett enjoys his time on the field and delivers great performance. In Friday’s practice, Brissett connected on 13 of 22 passes and launched a touchdown pass to DeMario Douglas. He and tight end Austin Hooper look good on the field.
